House Committee Advances Ireland Trade Commission Bill

The House was in session last week, and the House Commerce Committee considered a proposal to establish the Pennsylvania-Ireland Trade Commission. The Committee voted 22-3 to advance House Bill 2132.

The PA Chamber’s member-driven, board-approved International Trade and Exporting policy position statement calls for supporting “public policy and initiatives consistent with U.S. trade laws and policy, that promote free and fair trade, open investment, and regulatory cooperation.” This legislation will help advance these policies by strengthening economic ties between Pennsylvania and Ireland. Additionally, the Commission established in the bill would include a representative of the PA Chamber.

We supported this legislation (CLICK HERE for our memo), which is now eligible for a final vote in the full House.
