2018 Spring Human Resources Conference—the world of human resources is an ever-evolving environment, constantly shifting as legislation, regulation and court decisions imposed on employers change the landscape of requirements for businesses.  HR professionals are responsible for applying and implementing these ever-evolving rules and shifting guidelines to real world situations that are rarely clear cut.

A complement to our very popular Annual HR Conference which has been held for over 30 years, this event presents top experts and thought leaders to give their perspectives and try to make sense of a collection of HR topics businesses have told us are among the most difficult and confusing.

Our presenters—dynamic employment law experts with years of in-depth human resources experience—will help you understand what you need to know to protect your company, ensure that you are in compliance with the law and help to make your tough job a little easier:

  • Recruiting in the Age of Googlization—and the Promise of People Analytics—hiring top talent is of high importance not only for HR, but also to C-suite executives.  Ira Wolfe, nationally published author, will discuss how the fast pace of change in technology and other trends is shaking up today’s workplaces, and how most companies have ineffective recruitment and retention processes.  Recruiting is not a Millennial problem – it is a whole employment process problem.
  • Complying with the FMLA and What You Always Wanted To Know...—for companies with 50 or more employees, the Family Medical Leave Act is one of the most important set of regulations for which HR professionals are responsible.  The U.S. Department of Labor oversees and enforces this law and for the first time we are inviting an investigator with the U.S. Dept of Labor to explain the details, answer questions and make sure you are up to speed on this law.
  • Strategies to Prevent Harassment and Other Abusive Employee Conduct—sexual harassment has been making national headlines for months now. Couple that with other types of harassment, bullying and incivility, and it is clear that a toxic workplace with troubled employees can damage a company.  Without strategies to prevent this behavior companies open themselves to lawsuits, but beyond that companies also may face other serious fallout, including losing their stars at a time when there is a critical labor shortage of talent, low morale among employees who stay, retaliation claims and poor productivity.  We have a top national HR attorney who will educate the audience on correct policies and procedures, training, and strategies for both eradicating this type of behavior, and ensuring your company culture does not tolerate these detrimental behaviors.
  • Employment Law Update—the event kicks off with information on employment law updates and recent HR developments from PA Chamber Director of Government Affairs Alex Halper.  He’ll cover proposed employment bills at the state and federal level to help attendees plan for changes that may impact how you do business in the near future.
