2017 Annual Human Resources Conference—considered the premier event in Pennsylvania for human resources education, advice and training, the PA Chamber's 2017 Annual Human Resources Conference is the one place where HR professionals can get the most up-to-date information on the timeliest topics from top national and Pennsylvania experts: not only the hottest issues that require attention today, but also what companies should be doing to prepare for what is coming in 2018.

The event kicks off with keynote speaker Victoria A. Lipnic, Acting Chair, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Washington, D.C. She will discuss the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, with an update on its changes since it became enacted 50 years ago. In addition, she will conduct with Jonathan Segal a Senior Level track on Harassment in the Workplace.

Through comprehensive professional development programs for every level of experience, speakers provide tangible, practical steps HR professionals can immediately apply to ensure their companies are doing the right things and to help make their difficult jobs a little easier. Here are some of the topics we will be covering—a curriculum we developed based on your input:

  • The annual Employment Law Update by Jonathan Segal on the hottest issues facing HR professionals, such as gender pay equity, what is happening at the DOL and NLRB and what's percolating in Harrisburg.
  • Biggest Mistakes Companies Make in Complying with Workers' Compensation—two top WC attorneys will cover properly completing the forms and the correct deadlines; communicating with your injured worker and more, including dealing with "gray" areas such as an employee is hurt while attending a company party.
  • Electronic Recordkeeping and Records Management—now that most HR departments store records electronically, there are new processes and procedures that must be in place to safeguard their personnel and medical records.
  • Drug and Alcohol Issues—one of the hottest issues in America right now is the whole drug and alcohol scenario: medical marijuana, opioids and heroin, and the impact in the workplace. A top employment attorney will review the legal issues, and an EAP professional will discuss the practical strategies you can use.
  • Anxiety, Obesity and Other Tough Issues—Ensuring Compliance with an Expanded ADA—how court decisions continue to expand the definition of what is considered a disability under the ADA — obesity is the newest issue facing businesses.

Check out the full list of topics and impressive list of speakers in the agenda! Network with your peers from across the state who are facing similar issues, and visit with a variety of exhibitors featuring consultants and companies showcasing a vast array of HR help and business services.
