39th Annual PA Chamber Dinner

The 2023 Annual PA Chamber Dinner is going bigger than ever before!

We are excited to announce that Pennsylvania’s own Academy Award nominated actor, director, writer, and producer Bradley Cooper will be the keynote speaker at the 39th Annual PA Chamber Dinner on December 14, 2023 in Hershey, PA. Additionally, and for the first time in PA Chamber Annual Dinner history, the program will include a special musical performance by another Pennsylvania native – award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist Gabby Barrett.

Cooper, a nine-time Oscar nominee, is currently in production on Maestro, a story he co-wrote and is directing, producing, and starring in about the complex love story of Leonard Bernstein (Cooper) and Felicia Montealegre (Carey Mulligan). The film will be released by Netflix in 2023.

The Annual Dinner will round out with a musical performance by Barrett, whose five-times platinum single “I Hope” was the most-streamed Country song of 2020 and reigned atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for a record-breaking 27 weeks. Her songs have amassed nearly two billion global streams.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

Morning Breakout Sessions:
11 a.m. – noon

Option #1:

Assessing Job Applicants with use of Software Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence
Presenters: Tricia Springer and Renee Mattei, Eckert Seamans
Location: Aztec Room

Description:
This presentation will cover an emerging employment topic focused on the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Use of Software, Algorithms, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assess job applicants and employees. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently released guidance on this important and emerging topic. This program will discuss the technical guidance, including how existing ADA requirements may apply to the use of AI in employment-related decision making, and will offer promising practices for employers to help with ADA compliance when using AI decision making tools. In addition, this program will survey existing legislation in this area, legislation which may soon make its way to Pennsylvania employers.

Option #2:
Money Talks: Pay Equity
Presenter: Christopher Durham, Duane Morris, LLP
Location: Nigerian Room

Description: As companies continue to increase their commitment to workplace diversity, equity and inclusion, pay equity issues have steadily moved to the forefront in the minds of not only the business community, but also legislators and enforcement agencies at the state and federal level.  Numerous state and local jurisdictions have passed enhanced laws relating to workplace pay equity, including pay range disclosure requirements and salary history bans.  Multiple states also require, or are poised to require, reporting of employee pay data, and the EEOC is likely to reinstitute a similar pay data reporting requirement at the federal level.  On the regulatory front, pay equity continues to be a focus of enforcement agencies.  This breakout session will provide an overview of the legal and regulatory landscape relating to workplace pay equity, and provide recommendations and strategies for businesses to maximize compliance and minimize legal and business risk in this area.

Afternoon Breakout Sessions: 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Option #1:

Corporate Philanthropy: A Tool to Engage Employees

Presenter: Ivy Buchan, Helix Strategies
Location: Aztec Room

Description: We’ll explore the qualities of a successful corporate philanthropy program and how to use this as an employee engagement tool. With so much need in the community, how to do decide what causes and how much to support? How do you involve your employees? How do you balance supporting your clients and other organizations in need? We’ll touch on all this and more.

Option #2:
The Labor Landscape: Updates for HR Professionals in 2023 and Beyond

Presenter: Julia Herzing, Knox, McLaughlin, Gornall & Sennett, P.C.
Location: Nigerian Room

Description: Attorney Julia Herzing will address the latest developments and emerging issues in labor and employment law that affect HR professionals in 2023.  This presentation will take a closer look at new or proposed changes to the law and administrative regulations or enforcement on legal issues that HR professionals deal with in the workplace.  Specific topics will include:

– Labor relations and NLRB updates, including recent opinion letters from NLRB General Counsel on severance agreements

– EEO updates, including pay equity, pregnancy discrimination and the Dobbs decision, and religious discrimination in the workplace.

– Wage and hour developments and what you can do to prepare for future changes to minimum wage, overtime, and salary requirements
