About

The Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry—the Statewide Voice of BusinessTM —was founded on Dec. 16, 1916 by a group of more than 100 influential business leaders from across the Commonwealth who recognized the need for a unified voice for business in the halls of the state Capitol. Our mission is to articulate and advocate on public policy issues that will expand private sector job creation and lead to a more prosperous Pennsylvania for all its citizens.

staffHeadquartered in Harrisburg, and with staff in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, today’s PA Chamber is the largest broad-based business association in Pennsylvania. Our membership comprises close to 10,000 member businesses of all sizes and industry sectors throughout the state—from sole proprietors to Fortune 100 companies—representing nearly 50 percent of the private workforce in the Commonwealth.

Business advocacy is at the heart of our work. With a full-time staff of experienced business lobbyists, an active political action committee, legislative issue work groups and grassroots action network, the PA Chamber serves as the frontline advocate for business growth in the state Capitol.

Once laws and regulations are enacted, our organization is dedicated to helping our members understand and easily follow the complexities of complying with state and federal workplace rules. Educational services include conferences and guidebooks on a wide variety of issues important to the business community.

For more than two decades, Pennsylvania Chamber Insurance, Inc., the insurance subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, has made sure that businesses of all sizes across Pennsylvania can offer quality, affordable benefits to their employees.

The United States Chamber of Commerce awarded the PA Chamber with a rating of Accredited with Distinction—one of only four state chambers to reach this achievement. Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures, sound policies, corporate citizenship and ability to advance their member businesses’ legislative goals.

Most recently, our organization entered a new century making its advocacy, education and political action operations even more dynamic by combining with the Pennsylvania Business Council. This potent combination of membership, vision and resources has created an even stronger and more effective group for developing and advocating pro-growth public policies, increasing private sector job-growth and putting the Commonwealth on a path toward economic prosperity.

The Pennsylvania Chamber is not affiliated with any political party and is not part of government.
