Luke Bernstein, president and CEO of the PA Chamber, took the stage in Erie last week at the closing keynote session of the Marcellus Shale Coalition’s Shale Insight conference. Addressing hundreds of business leaders and energy professionals from across the region, Bernstein noted the importance of the work these companies and their workforces and vendors are doing to improve national security, energy resilience and environmental outcomes, before welcoming via video U.S. Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia and the Director General for Energy for the European Union, Ditte Juul Jorgensen.

Bernstein also welcomed attendees to Erie, especially those from out of state, and highlighted the state’s strengths in terms of natural resources, infrastructure and workforce, as well as the Chamber’s success in securing a reduction in the state’s corporate net income tax and improvements to taxes on small businesses as part of this year’s budget.

“But we know there is much more work to do in terms of expanding opportunity and improving the quality of life for businesses and families in the state,
said Bernstein. “The PA Chamber, along with your support, will continue to advocate for job creation and work tirelessly to lead Pennsylvania to greater prosperity for our residents.”

Bernstein then noted that the news last week of a major disruption to the Nord Stream pipelines that deliver gas to Europe from Russia further reinforces the PA Chamber’s call to build out additional energy infrastructure in order to support our allies abroad and further reduce emissions.
