As states across the country begin the process of fully re-opening their economies, employers are encountering serious workforce shortages.  Recent news coverage echoes what we are hearing from our members everyday: despite a high unemployment rate, employers are having difficulty filling open positions within their organizations.  Many are pointing to the expansion of federal unemployment benefits – which include an additional $300 in weekly federal benefit payments – as exacerbating the problem, since many claimants are making as much or more in benefits as they were in wages.

As part of our Bringing PA Back initiative, the PA Chamber is shining a light on areas that are inhibiting economic recovery.  As part of this important effort, we want to hear from YOU! Your feedback describing real-world examples of the challenges employers are facing is critical.
